I just recently cosplayed Rakka for Sacanime, but it was really rushed with crappy wings and halo, so it's nowhere near as good as these. I feel inferior.

S.E. Lain original creator is Yoshitoshi ABe, no discussion about it, but there are more people working on it. If you see mangas like White Rain and animes like haibane you see the point of view of ABe.

Wingless is correct, ABe was only the character designer for Lain. The only anime he is the original creator of is Haibane Renmei, since it is based off of his doujinshi The Haibanes of Old Home.

According to Nihonjinron (Japanese studies, usually with a nationalistic tinge), Japanese relationships tend to be closer than that of Westerners. I'd imagine that that has to be accounted for; what may look excessive in a Western setting is par for course in a Japanese setting.

ABe was hard at work unpacking doujinshi. I didn't get the chance to chat with him, sadly. Sorry for the blur. I didn't realize how bad it was, and I was kind of trying to be discreet at the time.

One of the ladies sitting at the booth, seen here staring blankly at me as I take my picture, did say something to me. She said, "Sorry, no pictures" as she made a × symbol with her fingers. Oops. With a quick すいません, I went on my way.

In other news, I didn't purchase any doujinshi. I wasn't too impressed with the sketches in f.p.o., and nothing else really caught my eye. The doujinshi I remember seeing were f.p.o., Ryuushika Ryuushika (which has a glittery title in person, actually), and some Pochiyama stuff.

Kind of a little disappointed, but oh well. :/

The Uchuujin doujinshi was also there, as evidenced by the guy holding a copy of it in the previous picture.
