Hi everyone
I'm searching info about ABe Yoshitoshi. wikipedia says that Niea_7 comes from a doujinshi. However Niea anime was produced in 2000 and wikipedia dates the doujinshi in 2001. Where does Niea come from ? Does Wikipedia made an error ? or Niea_7 comes from an other ABe's work ?
Thanks for help.

>> No.2

Niea_7 begin from manga published in magazine Ace Next in 1999 before anime, but after anime manga was republished by Kadokawa Shoten in 2 books in 2000 and 2001, also in 2001 published doujinshi NieA Under 7 — Under and artbook NieA Under 7 - Scrap. More info about dates look at page 81 in NieA Under 7 - Scrap.

Hey guys, I have kind of a request.

I'm looking for this image that i'm pretty sure he did. I think I picked it up back when I was heavy into lain, so it might be mixed in with artbooks.

It's a picture of a naked girl, very pale, dark (probably black hair), and she standing against a background that I think is metal (either rusty or not.) The color scheme has some purples in it.

(I've spent the past few hours searching for it, but to no avail.) Any assistance?

I don't suppose anyone has (or has already posted) a rapidshare or a megaupload of An Omnipresence in the Wired? It's on this page

But only in Russian or Japanese!

>> No.2

Well, they have it in Russian and Japanese, I mean. I'm looking for the english version...

Does anyone know what Yoshitoshi does for money? I mean, he puts little books out like twice per year. I know he does art for a few phone cards. But seriously, Japan is expensive. How does he earn a living wage?

>> No.2

Not only does he support himself, he also pays for the upkeep and livelihood of several fish and other small animals inhabiting his apartment.

>> No.4

Officially, his occupation is a graphic artist, so I imagine people hire him to do art for a bunch of stuff we don't know about.

>> No.5

He also buys any and everything made by Apple.

Well, being the Prime Minister of Japan probably pays well too.

Picked these up at Wondercon in SF today.
Is this awesome (Y/N)?
(OT: I was at a Tower Records a while back (probably 2002ish) and they had the Lain Schoolgirl figure and a Spike figure. I only had enough cash to get one, so I got the Spike one cause it was slightly cheaper. I've always regretted that.)

I saw this keychain before. Is it just me or her eyes are bit mad?

I've purchased this Rakka keychain several days ago on eBay
It should come to me soon.

I've had mine for a couple years now (always with my keys =D) and I don't think her face is that odd looking, it's different but the eyes look a lot softer up close.

The Lain statue is awesome.

The Rakka keychain... I'd get tested for excessive lead paint. ( Sorry, I just dislike GE Entertainment products. :P )

Heh. I know what you mean, I've got their lain plush and it's pretty much the crap of the crap.
Oh well, at least it was cheap compared to most of my other figures and didn't require $hipping from Japan.

So does ABe have any new anime projects coming out soon/distant future?

>> No.2

He was working on an anime version of Pochiyama at the Pharmacy with Ueda, but that's been shelved in favor of some other unknown project. He's supposed to write the complete story in novel form first, and if the novel's good, it'll be published to complement the anime. (Spinning Haibane Renmei on the fly was a huge headache that the production crew would like to avoid this time around.)

Which post? I only see the usual forum noise in that thread.

>> No.4

That is interesting, though... I don't think NieA_7 turned out that well, but it's the right genre for these days and if anyone can de-moe it it's ABe.

Dear /hr/

I happened to notice that ABe is continuing to publish Haibane Renmei scenario and art books.

How can I buy these things?

From Wikipedia:

# Haibane Renmei - Kyakuhonshuu - Volume 1 (August, 2004)
# Haibane Renmei - Kyakuhonshuu - Volume 2 (December, 2004)
# Haibane Renmei - Kyakuhonshuu - Volume 3 (December, 2004)
# Haibane Renmei - Kyakuhonshuu - Volume 4 (December, 2005)
# Haibane Renmei - Kyakuhonshuu - Volume 5 (December, 2005)
# Haibane Renmei - Kyakuhonshuu - Volume 6 (August, 2006)

>> No.2

You're asking about the Haibane Renmei Scenario Collections, which are basically scripts of the TV episodes annotated by ABe with line drawings added for flavor. They're damn near impossible to find short of going to Japan and hunting for them at stores selling doujins and dropping by Comiket.

>> No.3

>>2

I was hoping that they'd have sketches of everyday items in Glie. I'm collecting them, similar to Reki's imco lighter.

>> No.4

Fuck it. I don't care if they're just kanji books. I'm just going to buy them all. I can't stop myself.

If you have lots of money to blow, you can buy 1 through 5 from Mandarake for $32.73 apiece:
