I'm going to make a wild guess and say this topic has nothing to do with a certain thread on the OHBB's Art's & Crafts forum. Nothing at all.

>> No.4

This thread has spanned BOTH of the Haibane fan artists!

It's that time of year again, when I have a lot of free time and a connection that can seed torrents. So! Have an ABe torrent. 1.42GB. Lots of stuff in it that should be familiar to the regulars of these boards. 4chan is already all over the torrent, so hopefully this will stay seeded for a while.

Just the normal paranoia that everyone has in this universe these days.

>> No.20

Hrumph. Appeal denied, too.

Is anything in there actually properly licensed any more? I know DMP did the Lain artbook, but I have said artbook - it's different from the original Omnipresence in Wired in a lot of ways. Other than that, Robot is back to licensing limbo, Tokyopop has shown no sign of touching NieA_7 in a good five or six years, and of course Fanboy Entertainment, with licenses on the "Essence" artbook and the never-released White Rain, are totally defunct.

Honest question - if a show is licensed, is all related material licensed with the show?

I'm terribly sorry for the massive necro, but can anyone reupload and seed the megatorrent? I recently had a hard drive crash, and like a fool, I didn't have my image folder backed up.

I was looking through Mandarake for copies of Gaisokyu and happened upon this instead.

(There's two other images from the anthology on display, but I don't think either of them are ABe).

The blurb on the Amazon listing says something about an English translation and "worldwide release". Has anyone heard more about this?

Having received this in the mail, I can say without second thought that this is the best art book I own.

>> No.19

I'd consider it a "PG-13" book at worst, although that might mean "R" if you're a bit prudish. A few drawings come close to full frontal nudity, but that's as bad as it gets.

QFT.

>> No.20

Yeah, that answers my question. Ah well, I can just wait for a)scans or b) an English release.

>> No.21

ABe was at AnimeFest this past weekend, and said it should be out in English pretty soon. There's not a lot of text, so the translation should go quickly.

Just got this at Kinokuniya (the Japanese version, not the english translation). There isn't much writing at all, mainly the timeline and index in the back but there's a few lines here and there. Probably around a dozen pages of text.
Total including tax was $67, but the list price is 4800yen or ~$42, so $20 extra, not too bad.
The book itself is slightly larger (maybe 5mm in each direction) than my copy of the DMP release of the Lain artbook (which barely fits on my shelf as it is), so with the box on it doesn't fit on my shelf :( Oh well.

The store also had the Japanese release of Robot #5-8. I just wish I could read them.
Pic not related.

Some thoughts:

Yay, return of pointy ears !

Finally, aBe is doing something. We've waited too long, and Texhnolyze was too depressing.

A question for those who have read the story:

Is it worth animating ? Haruhi Suzumiya has practically filled up the void left by aBe after Haibane Renmei (I consider that his best work), and I really long for another anime involving him.

>> No.24

HLJ has this for $57 USD after SAL shipping.

I bought it so fast.

Noticed this flow chart in a scan of Omnipresence in the Wired - just curious what people might think it means - I thought it was interesting if it is meant to be a chronological progression as it seems to show shy bear suit lain becoming the lain from the Playstation game which I had always assumed came first. Doesn't help that I cant read the Japanese LOL

>> No.2

Small and blurry text is small and blurry.

>> No.3

it's pretty small in the english version too.
from left to right:
{top line}
Loser Lain (I'm not) (a loser)
Modding Lain
Tangled Up Lain (Waaah)
GLain (Ahoo?) {too small, can't read}
{bottom line}
GOLAIN (thump) (Oh I get it)
??? (next??) (om bee you?) {too small, can't read}

Found this picture online and thought I'd share it because it's a pretty good Reki, and Reki is love.

Remember Rakka's "wings-out" scene?

Yeah.

>> No.7

>>6
Well, it's also the fact that her wings turn downward, unlike your standard Haibane art work, where the wings stick straight out. That contributes to their oversized nature.

>> No.8

>>7
True. However, I always thought it was odd that the Haibane walk around with their wings like that...no creature with wings holds its wings out like that. It'd be like holding your arms out all the time.

>> No.9

Remember that they have almost no control over their wings beyond basic twitching, though.

What artbooks should I look to purchase? I already own the Lain, Haibane Renmei, Niea and Robot artbooks but I want to get more of ABe (and any other good artists) art books/doujins etc. What should I be looking to buy? and where should I be looking?

>> No.2

I think you've got all the art books that I know about. Unless you can manage to get your hands on a copy of ABe's contributions to the Gallery of Fantastic Art, Portfolios A and B, in which case you must GIEF.

>> No.3

Oh, but yeah, as for other sources...the next best thing, I think, are his doujinshi.

No.1   [Reply]

I have no pictures of these two, could someone please help me change that? I don't have anything ABe related to post in return
