Yes, I am selling my Haibane Renmei artbook. I also threw a couple of Niea_7 postcards to the lot. It ends in five days.

Finally got around to watching Texhnolyze this week. I should've watched it earlier, this is incredible.

Did you watch a happy cute moeblob show after Texhnolyze to shoo the depression away?

I did.

I watched the alternate outtakes on the DVD, to make me laugh after being bummed out. :)

Did the word "Theoria" appear anywhere in the show before the last two episodes? Maybe it would've made any sense at all if I'd remembered it, but I don't…

>> No.9

I don't remember, anybody mentioning Theoria except Kano. But Kano was so screwed up in the head. After all, wasn't he was like the result of at least 3 generations of incest?

>> No.10

Theoria is more of a title than a name (and more of a verb than a title).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theoria
Wikipedia should help, but the gist is that Kano is referring to Ran's role as seer; as to why he insists she's his sister, it may be more of a symbolic gesture. He's broken into the realm of consciousness she's always inhabited, they are the only ones able to access that state, so he sees her as his "sister" in the sense that any group of people united under anything can be "brothers" and "sisters."

Anyway, I love Texhnolyze. It's a shame there isn't a whole lot of animation anywhere that matches it in depth and style.

The show similarly referred to the doctor as Ichise's mother, and it was unclear if it was figurative or not after a while. Wizzu's translator suggested the entire show was meant to be a dream sequence. I'm not sure I disagree.

>> No.12

There are a number of clues that would suggest that (the scrambled text, Ichise meeting his father on the surface... the whole surface in general). I think some aspects of Texhnolyze work better interpreted literally and others work better symbolically, but the two overlap and the whole is both literal and allegorical. That's what I like about it. It's literary animation.

>> No.13

Freud would wet his pants with that show. It gave me unquiet sleeps, but at least something survives in the end. Also, the opening is beast.

Hey everybody :> I'm not much for requesting images, but I was thinking maybe you could help me out.
I'm looking for pictures of Masami Eiri. Doodles from the artbooks, size charts, anything. Fanart is fine too, since i'm kind of looking for anything that's not a direct screencap from the series. He's one of my favorite (sad, right? @_@) characters from the series, and..Well, i'd like to see more of him.

Thanks so much :>

Wish I could do more for you, but he's damned hard to find. He's in several frames in the short comic "Nightmare of Fabrication" - I've attached a page with the most direct view of him. DMP's "yoshitoshi ABe lain illustrations" has the whole story translated, so it might be worth picking up (particularly if you like Lain in general).

Since when are shots from the side that don't show a character's eyes and shots that show a character's hand holding chain-link fence references to Lain?

Come back when she starts wearing her hair asymmetrically, or when she becomes some kind of Gaia-like god-being.

>> No.4

Studio DEEN did insert several Lain references in earlier series - in fact this is the only positive thing about the studio.

But this scene was for a completely different reason in the original work, so I kinda doubt it.

yeah? I haven't watched, well, anything previously by them other then Higurashi/Kai.

Although unlike those,I'm only watching Umineko because it's a complete train-wreck.>>as for
3,I would be happy to see better.

>> No.6

DEEN did Jigoku Shoujo, whose first episode had a girl jumping off a building and used a background that looked just like the "green+headlights" picture in intros to Lain episodes. Later they had ABe come in and do an illustration for some episode. (And Ai had an EVIL MAC PLUS.)

Let's see, I think the first episode of Ghost Hound was scene-for-scene identical to the first episode of Lain, but that might have been some kind of coincidence.

http://2chan.us/wordpress/2007/11/07/ghost-hound-i-already-saw-it-maybe/

Also both of those shows were kinda boring.

Does anyone know where this wallscroll can be found at? I'm trying to collect all the Haibane Renmei merchandise and I've been trying to get this particular one for over a year. Every single web site or store that appears to have it turns out to no longer have any and they never updated their catalog to reflect it.

>> No.2

You're probably shit-out-of-luck trying to get it new; the DVDs have been out of print for about 18 months now, so the same is almost certainly true for any merchandise.

>> No.3

There's five scrolls... and that's the rarest.
I had to search three months to find it, but the shop is out of stock too.
Good luck!

<--- Here's two other, but they're are unavailable too, i think.

>> No.5

I've tried both places posted, Anime Pavilion is actually a local place about 20 minutes from my home. I also keep checking ebay for it. It's just nowhere to be found, and I've been looking for a LONG time now. It's a little frustrating, if anyone on this board has one to sell I'd be interested in picking one up because I don't think I'll realistically see it again.

>> No.8

I got lucky and found this one in the local anime shop back when it was still around. Poster was pretty cheap, too.

>> No.9

Hey Cirno (or anybody intrested) if your still looking for one I'd be willing to part with mine . Go to cff.ssw.net/forum it's a haibane-renmei forum which I go frequently under the handle "logos", join it and send me a PM .

New here, but look at this! This is from a MySpace page that is called Anime Charity Auctions which is donating autographed items to convention charity auctions. They seem to have a bunch of autographed ABe items including and original ABe watercolor art piece. Now how do we get them donate to the conventions I'm going to.
