Does anyone know if the English translation of the Lain artbook "Omnipresence in the Wired," called "Yoshitoshi Abe Lain Illustrations," has been scanned? I've been wanting to read it, but the only versions I could find online are the Japanese version.

Thanks.

>> No.2

You could just buy a hard copy.

>> No.3

Anon doesn't purchase anything, you know that.

>> No.4

Seriously, just go buy it; it's a huge full-cover book for something like $20.

>> No.5

Its a great book, and I agree its worth the buy...
I tried to get the spine cut off so I could scan it into my computer but FedEx Kinko's cut more than just the spine of the book off, rendering my copy close to useless.

>> No.6

Have the book, can't seem to get the pages to photograph and would damage the book to try and scan it properly....

So for the moment I'd suggest buying it. Worth it for any lain fan.

>> No.7

Sold in most bookstores as paperback... I personally have the Japanese hardback and there is no way I'm ruining that copy... (english version has a few extras anyway) but it really is worth the buy...

Apparently these things were at the end of every HR episode. I only have half of them!

Anyone want to find the rest?
I'm missing 1,8,10,12,13 and also 4 has a stupid fansub note on the top.

They're not on the DVDs either…

>> No.2

Oops. Anyway, they might be on the end of wizzu or AonE fansubs.

>> No.3

(my copy of 7 has mistranslated fansubs over it too)

>> No.4

Oh god I'm missing 6's too :(

My copy of Gairo arrived today. It's truely a thing of beauty (A3 size, i.e. 29.7cm wide x 42cm high), but at first glance it's stuff we've already seen: I recognised some of the GoFA art, there's a full-page version of the Sui-Rin cover, and the rest of the picture credits at the back seem to be for doujinshi and the like.

But still, if Wani are planning to put out an ABe retrospective then I'm buying!

>> No.15

DMP of late seems to be pretty good about mirroring a lot of Wani's artbook releases here in the US. Maybe we'll get to see Gairo here if we express an interest...

>> No.16

I'm really new to this whole BBS thing. In fact this is the first BBS post I've ever made! Well, I figured, what better a place to do it than here?

I LOVE ABE YOSHITOSHI!!! I can't express that anymore than that. He's the greatest artist alive! And definitely my favorite artist of all! That said, I figure I belong here, right?

Sorry I don't have an image to share...

I was wondering if anyone will be working on translating this new Pochiyama doujin. If so I'm willing to help as I would very much like to see it.

Such an awesome place!

Welcome!

So far as I know, nobody has a copy of Pochiyama 2.0 yet. Or of anything else from this Comiket. This'll probably be the first place they show, though, if/when somebody does turn them up.

>> No.18

So I saw Gairo today at Kinokuniya. I was tempted to buy it, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It only had one or two images that really stood out, and the rest was stuff that I had seen before.

Was GoFA printed in such a large format, too? Because if it were...THAT would be the thing to buy. Oh man.

Hi everyone
I'm searching info about ABe Yoshitoshi. wikipedia says that Niea_7 comes from a doujinshi. However Niea anime was produced in 2000 and wikipedia dates the doujinshi in 2001. Where does Niea come from ? Does Wikipedia made an error ? or Niea_7 comes from an other ABe's work ?
Thanks for help.

>> No.2

Niea_7 begin from manga published in magazine Ace Next in 1999 before anime, but after anime manga was republished by Kadokawa Shoten in 2 books in 2000 and 2001, also in 2001 published doujinshi NieA Under 7 — Under and artbook NieA Under 7 - Scrap. More info about dates look at page 81 in NieA Under 7 - Scrap.

Hey guys, I have kind of a request.

I'm looking for this image that i'm pretty sure he did. I think I picked it up back when I was heavy into lain, so it might be mixed in with artbooks.

It's a picture of a naked girl, very pale, dark (probably black hair), and she standing against a background that I think is metal (either rusty or not.) The color scheme has some purples in it.

(I've spent the past few hours searching for it, but to no avail.) Any assistance?

Does anyone know what Yoshitoshi does for money? I mean, he puts little books out like twice per year. I know he does art for a few phone cards. But seriously, Japan is expensive. How does he earn a living wage?

>> No.2

Not only does he support himself, he also pays for the upkeep and livelihood of several fish and other small animals inhabiting his apartment.

Officially, his occupation is a graphic artist, so I imagine people hire him to do art for a bunch of stuff we don't know about.

He also buys any and everything made by Apple.
