Yeah. Emailed them about that. Got an out-of-the-office-till-next-week message. Anyhow, I don't recall them having any amazingly rare items - just the (original, not script collection) Haibane series and maybe some other things like Not Found.

Is it even worth hoping that ABe stuff might be up for grabs at Otakon?

Okay. Update on what's available from them (different from last time, they're now sure of what's in stock). They have multiple copies of the three story-centric Haibane doujins (no Lifestyle Diary), Not Found, and White Rain. They've also got one copy of their tarame paradise doujin, too, if anyone wants that. Sadly, no Ryuu Tai - that one's out of stock now.

bagels - if you request the hen da ne guys (ttp://www.hendane.com/) they can probably get some for you. Most larger doujin shops have at least a few ABe doujins around, and I think (from talking to them a little bit) these guys know what they're doing.

there's also a tiny chance that I'll be at otakon with ABe doujins to sell.

FYI, if Aloha Anime still has the doujinshi in stock, I can vouch for their quality. I purchased the reprint edition of "White Rain", as well as originals of "The Haibane of Old Home", "The Haibane of Old Home vol. 2", and "The Haibane of Old Home Extra Edition". They are all in superb condition.

Anybody know what the title says? I'm guessing that it's a "year's best science fiction" anthology or something along those lines... but is it for manga or writing?

I downloaded all the stuff he has on that site a long time ago...it's been up for a while. I figured I'd share it here, though, so he wouldn't have to worry as much about bandwidth problems or anything like that. Now you can get the images from either place. :)

Interestingly enough, from what i've found the omnipresence scans from that site are missing some pages.. i think the original book is something like 128 pages. Also the new book has even more content.

That's true. I never said it was complete...I noticed myself that they were missing some scans, but you have to take what you can get, I suppose. What *is* there is scanned at excellent quality.

I own the new one anyway...so I'm not missing out on much anything. ;D

Oh, dont get me wrong i'm not complaining at all, just clarifying really. Actually, I own several artbooks that I am unwilling to scan (due to possibly damaging them) that i'm still looking for scans for, for the purposes of expanding a digital archive, plus you can do all sorts of neat stuff with them like make wallpapers. :P

I saw rebuild an omnipresence in wired for sale the other day, but I'm waiting for the English release.

Well I just bit the bullet and decided to import the new version of omniprescense, and I must say there's alot more content added than I thought there would be.. the scans really dont do it justice.. it leaves alot out, makes me glad I imported it. I also got range murata's form code.. which is really great (but expensive) I might consider it to be my new favorite. I highly recommend both though. :)

Oooh. Lovely big wallpapers. I made this Haibane one from the sketchwork Novastar found quite a while back. It looks rather like that first one of yours, truth be told.

For me, these are fullscreen. :D But if you mean "standard" resolution, i.e. 4:3 aspect ratio, then I might be able to do that to some of them. Others, like the one with "lain" written on the left side, would be difficult to convert to 4:3 while keeping the same feel.

If I have time, I might do it. Check back in a while.

heads up for anyone who downloads that cleaned file: apparently CDisplay sorts these files differently than Windows does, so they'll display out of order if you use it. sorry 'bout that.

What, I never make mistakes, although I do often miss bubbles/panels/entire pages, as anybody who worked with me in scanlating can attest to.

I have to agree that this translation note system is pretty neat; adding individual notes was a hassle at first, but it's no more time-consuming than labelling page/panel/speaker/whatever in a .txt, and it saves me from having to flip between/adjust my text editor and image viewer.

I made another pass through and made some edits for consistency and such. I also notice that these remaining issues:

wow, that was fast.

I'm having to be a bit creative with editing in some of Pochiyama's signs. I think I'm gonna leave the huge one on page 8 as is (subtitling what it means below) because a lot of the effect of the joke would be lost if I fudged with the huge brush/dripping paint. For some of the other signs, they're so thin that I have to write a lot of the text in vertically. On the plus side, that does mean that it looks more like the original Japanese.

I'm typing this while in bed with sinus pains so it probably won't get top marks for clarity or coherence but whatever.

I tried cleaning up a few awkward sentences in the afterword, with varying success. The first paragraph is kind of weird, but I didn't quite follow the original Japanese so I don't know exactly what to do about it. In the end, it's not all that important, I guess.

Oh, Bagels, for the handwriting on the signs (and the little comments outside of bubbles), I warmly recommend using the Mikachan font (Mikachan-P or Mikachan-PB to be precise). It's a very relaxed-looking handwriting font. It can look even better at 110% or 120% width.

I'll give the Mikachan font a whirl as I go about my second sweep of the scans. I've got everything edited in by now, with a few sound fx exceptions:

Those scenario collections are kind of interesting... I also like the sketches, but I don't think they're better than the colored versions. They're not worse, either, though. They're just different. I like the sketches, but I also like (love) the way ABe can color.
