Sorry if it seems I'm bragging. I am, actually, but this was just so awesome. In the most amazing find in my last few years of going to conventions, I was browsing through a doujinshi box when suddenly I see Pochiyama-san staring at me. I think, 'Wow, lucky day!', because while I have most anything of state-side release, like Omnipresence, I don't have much in the way of the original doujinshis. Picking up one would make my day, if not my entire month.

So, then I look on the side where there looks to be some sort of squiggle marks. Turns out it's a signature in silver marker. ( My really lucky day! )

So I go to pick it up. And hey... it's a three pack! Yakkoku no Pochiyama-san volumes 1, 2, and 3, and they're all signed! And behind that? A copy of 'I am an Alien'. And IT'S signed.

So, after the utter elation of holding these four awesome doujins in my hand, which were actually touched by the man himself; I begin to realize... I only had about $80 in my pocket. I mean, signed, originals, mint condition... these were going to be expensive. So I ask the dealer, how much.

$50.

So I now have in my possession 4 signed ABe doujinshi for $12.50 a pop. Glorious!

I've never seen ABe doujinshi at a con (though I haven't looked that hard, either). Has anyone else had luck (obviously not as lucky as OP's) finding ABe doujinshi in person in the US? If so where?

Also, are there any preferred places to get or browse it online?

Thanks, and congrats to OP on their find!

If luck works in a zero-sum system, I'd suggest you stay the hell away from Vegas and lotteries.

Same thing happened to me. Bought the doujinshi's the moment I saw them at Nan Desu Kan in Sept. Mine were signed as well :D

I'd bet you anything it was the same dealer. I went to the NDK website and the same dealer I bought from was listed there, too.

i got the same deal at ohayocon. the vendor told me that ABe came stateside for a con but they didn't advertise him and put him into a corner booth where nobody could see him, so he ended up not handing out any of the doujins he signed. the people at the vendor found him and bought out his stock. apparently he gave them a really good deal too.

Stares at Pochiyama

So, was any volume apart from the 1st ever translated?

>> No.8

2 is full of computer jokes which nobody who can read it gets, so nope. (if someone wants to try it anyway, I'll explain them)

I haven't seen 3, but it's around somewhere.

lol asylum anime is the dealer's name. Just got my copies at animeiowa this past weekend.

All three volumes of Pochiyama are now available from iTunes in one package as an iPhone/iPod Touch application for $5. The translation is a little clumsy at times, and the text isn't blended seamlessly with the art, but it's quite readable in this form, and I hope they bring out his "Uchuujin" doujinshi in this form, too.

In fact, it would become my preferred way to read manga, too.
